Tryanglez Salon is saving the environment 1 client at a time everyday!

In honor of Earth Month, I was recently named the #1 Salon in North America by Vish Waste Warriors!  Yes, you read that right, #1 in North America!  Vish is a tool/program I use to measure color and reduce product waste, not only for the salon to save money and for you to save money, but also to preserve the environment.  According to Vish, salons without Vish waste more than 15 million pounds of mixed color a year!  Below are my comments given for the interview in it’s entirety.  A portion of which has been used for the publications.

As a business owner, waste is always a concern, with anything from color to water.  Waste equates to money lost. I love how Vish records what you used, tracks how much you used so the inventory reordering is a breeze.  It's extremely accurate.  Since using vish, there's no more guessing how much color to buy, the reports are dead on. Controlling your money to not have excess  color sitting on your shelf gives me more profits without unwanted inventory.  When color sales come up from your suppliers,  you can order 6 months worth and know you will use it.

“I'm a small salon, in a small town, but money is still money, in any town, no matter how big or small the salon is.  We all have a responsibility to preserve the environment where we live and help others where we can, be it people, animals or planet.”  Which is why I also use an ecoheads water faucet head on my shampoo bowl so I'm not wasting water. It uses much less water, saving up to 65% of water used and gives great water pressure.  Sustain Beauty, which sells the Ecoheads products are also involved in the “Thirst Project”, bringing fresh water to areas that have none.  A link below will tell you more about the thirst project. Every ecoheads product bought helps with this project.  They also have a color mixer that whips your color, making it as smooth and fluffy as whip cream, which also helps you save up to 30% of color used in the salon and an additional 20% chemical waste.  My products I use are sustainably resourced and cruelty free.  We are in the beauty industry, and there's nothing beautiful about using animals to test beauty products on.

As far as prices and profits go, “I did recently raise prices and Vish was a big part of that to justify it.  I can show clients how much color was used and how much is considered normal.  It's uncomfortable raising prices, but when you have solid proof to back yourself up with, people know the decision wasn't made lightly.  You didn't pull this number out of the air.”

My clients think that I'm very high tech seeing Vish is action.  It's digital,  it's scientific,  it's not in the back room.  My color bar is right next to my station, everything is out in the open for clients to see this amazing piece of technology in action. It's consistent results and clients really like to watch the chemistry happening right in front of them.
